An AI translator that understands context
A word-for-word translation can use correct words and still sound wrong. AlgoChat translates the way a bilingual friend would. Tell it who the text is for and it keeps the tone you want. It also explains phrases that do not carry over directly.
Type or paste text, or send a photo of a sign, menu or label. It is free, it works in your phone browser, and you do not need an account.
Try one of these
- TranslateTranslate this into Spanish. It is a message to my host family, so keep it warm but polite.
- MenuTranslate this menu photo into English and tell me which dishes contain pork or seafood.
- IdiomWhat does "break a leg" mean, and what would a Japanese speaker say in the same situation?
- Two tonesTranslate this into French twice: once formal for my landlord, once casual for a friend.
- Check mineI wrote this in German. Correct it and explain each mistake briefly.
Say who it is for
Many languages change grammar and word choice depending on who you address. French has tu and vous. Japanese has different levels of politeness. Korean verb endings shift with the listener's age and status. Tell AlgoChat who will read the text and it can pick the right form.
A short note is enough. "Email to a professor", "text to my mother-in-law" or "notice for a shop window" each lead to a different translation of the same sentence. If you are unsure, ask for two versions and a line on how they differ.
Idioms, slang and jokes
Idioms rarely survive a literal translation. Ask AlgoChat what a phrase means, where it comes from and what the closest local equivalent is. This works in both directions. It can explain the Singlish in a group chat or the British slang in a TV show, and it can tell you when your own phrase will sound odd to a native speaker.
Wordplay and jokes often have no direct equivalent. Ask it to explain why the original is funny, then suggest a version that lands in the other language.
Translate a photo
Point your phone at a street sign, a train notice, a product label or a menu and send the photo. AlgoChat reads the text, translates it and can answer follow-up questions, such as "which of these is vegetarian?" or "what time does the last train leave?"
For food allergies, show the staff the translation and ask them to confirm. Menus often leave out ingredients.
Keep the formatting
Paste a list, a table or a formatted document and ask it to keep the layout. Headings, bullet points and line breaks stay where they are, and only the text changes. For a longer file, attach the PDF and ask for one section at a time. That keeps each part accurate and easy to check.
When to use a professional
AlgoChat is good for understanding a document and for everyday messages. For contracts, medical records, immigration papers or anything that needs a certified translation, use a qualified human translator. Use the AI to get the gist and prepare your questions first. For anything important you send in another language, a native speaker's read is worth asking for.
Questions
Which languages does it translate?
Most widely spoken languages, including Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic. Quality tends to be best for languages with lots of written text online.
Can it translate a whole PDF?
Yes, for PDFs up to 8 MB. For long documents, ask for one section at a time and check each part.
Can it speak the translation out loud?
No. AlgoChat replies in text. It can write a simple pronunciation guide for a phrase you need to say.
Is it accurate enough for legal or medical documents?
Use it to understand them, not as the official version. For anything you sign, submit or base treatment on, get a qualified translator.
Will it reply in my language?
Yes. Write to it in any language and it answers in that language unless you ask for another.
