A free ChatGPT alternative with no sign-up

ChatGPT is the best-known AI chat, and for many tasks it is a fine choice. People look for an alternative for plainer reasons. Some do not want an account. Some are on a school device. Some just want a second opinion from a different assistant.

AlgoChat is free, has no paid tier and never asks you to sign in. This page compares the two honestly, including where ChatGPT is the better pick.

Start chatting, it's free No sign-up. Works in your phone's browser.

How ChatGPT works without paying

As of October 2026, OpenAI lets people try ChatGPT without logging in, and its sign-in page offers a "Try it first" option. OpenAI says an account adds saved chat history and features such as voice conversations.

OpenAI's free tier FAQ says free users get unlimited everyday text chat, subject to abuse safeguards. File uploads, image generation, voice and data analysis have separate usage limits, and ChatGPT Plus raises them. The same FAQ says ads may appear on the free tier in some countries.

What AlgoChat does differently

AlgoChat has no account at all, so every feature it has is there from the first message. That includes web search with links, reading photos and PDFs up to 8 MB, math that renders as proper notation, diagrams drawn in the chat and code with a copy button. There is no upgrade screen because there is nothing to upgrade to.

The trade-off is that AlgoChat shows recommendation cards for other apps under some replies. Your chats are tied to the browser instead of an account, so they do not follow you to another device.

When ChatGPT is the better choice

Pick ChatGPT if you need any of these:

  • Image generation. AlgoChat cannot create or edit images.
  • Voice conversations. AlgoChat is text only.
  • Running code or analysing spreadsheets with code. AlgoChat cannot run code.
  • Chat history that syncs across your phone and laptop through an account.

Pick AlgoChat if you want to start without signing in on any device, want every feature without a paid plan, or are on a computer where you would rather not leave an account logged in.

Moving a task over

You do not need to export anything. Paste the part of the earlier conversation that matters, say what you were trying to do and what was not working, and carry on. Being specific about the problem gets you further than starting from scratch.

Plenty of people use both. Ask the same question in each and compare. Where the answers disagree, that is the part to check.
