A free Gemini alternative without a Google account
Gemini is built into Google's products, which is handy if you live in Gmail and Drive. It is less handy if you want to keep your AI chats apart from your Google account, or you are on a school account where Gemini is switched off.
AlgoChat is a free AI chat with no account of any kind. It runs in any phone or desktop browser and covers everyday questions, homework, writing and reading files.

Gemini and Google accounts
As of October 2026, Google's help pages say you can use some features of the Gemini web app without signing in. Saving your activity and using additional features need a Google account.
With a personal Google account you must be 13 or over, or the applicable age in your country. Work accounts need a qualifying Workspace edition and an age of 18 or over. School accounts only work if the school administrator has turned Gemini on, and accounts managed by Family Link cannot use the Gemini web app.
Why people use AlgoChat instead
Some want their questions kept away from the account that holds their email, photos and search history. AlgoChat never asks who you are, so there is nothing to link.
Others are on a school-managed Google account where Gemini is unavailable. AlgoChat does not depend on any account, so if the site loads, it works. Check your school rules on AI use first, since some teachers set limits.
In AlgoChat, the full feature set is available from the first message. You can attach photos and PDFs up to 8 MB, get web search with links, see math as real notation and ask for flowcharts or timelines that render in the chat.
Where Gemini is the better choice
Gemini makes sense if you want any of the following:
- Help inside Gmail, Docs or Drive. Gemini can summarise and find information in Google apps. AlgoChat has no integrations.
- Image generation and editing. Google offers this in the Gemini app. AlgoChat cannot make or edit images.
- Talking out loud. Gemini Live is a voice feature. AlgoChat is text only.
- History that syncs everywhere you sign in to Google.
AlgoChat makes sense when you want a capable chat with no account, on any device, without a paid plan.
Getting similar results
Gemini can read your Drive files directly. In AlgoChat you attach the file yourself. Download the PDF or take a screenshot, attach it and ask your question. For long documents, say which section matters so the answer stays focused.
